Wedding & Honeymoon:
Ever since the times of the British, Mussoorie has been a haven for romance and gaiety. In fact it was termed as the romance capital of the country. Till date Mussoorie is one preferred destination among honeymooners from all over the north India as they are taken over by the utmost beauty and the ‘Do Not Disturb’ surroundings of the Queen of the Hills. The very serene air of Mussoorie gets intoxicated with fresh bridal fragrance during honeymoon season. Some of the hotels also offer special honeymoon packages which these newlywed couples find very lucrative. The wedding venues in Mussoorie include Shagun wedding point Jhulaghar, Laxmi Narayan temple premise Library Bazaar, Radha Krishna temple Picture Palace, Jain Dharamsala Landour, the paid parking Kempty bus stand and some of the well known hotels.
Food, Wine & Nightlife of Mussoorie:
Unlike other stations where nightlife gets confined in clubs, pubs and discs, the virgin evenings of the Queen of the Hills gradually mature into a satisfying night till the wee hours. The Mall Road remains thronged with visitors during peak tourist season and as the trend have evolved over the past couple of years a good congregation can be seen on weekends too throughout the year. The restaurants, ice cream parlors, tikki-chat vends, pizza and coffee joints, liquor shops, non-vegetarian tandoori corners, paan and cigar corners and bars with live music can mostly be seen over crowded. There used to be ball and cabaret nights earlier but time has put a veil on that regal galore. The disc culture thankfully, has not been able to stand before the majestic grace of the Queen of the Hills. However, some hotels do organize Musical nights amidst beer and bonfire only for its guests. After relinquishing to the Uttarakhand Food festival and the Winterline Festival galore, tourists end up reclining back to their hotels and lodges. Whereas most of us, the locals, pull on the quilts after watching television and fixing itinerary with the visiting guest, if any, for an outing towards Kempty Falls and Company Garden the next day. Rest of us switch off the bed switch keeping that book aside yawning. The sky of the Queen of the Hills adorns the brightest Milky Way and the frequent meteor sights are delightful. Rare wildlife sight proves a bonus in the nights in the outskirts of Mussoorie. The night breeze of the Queen of the Hills adorns an intoxicating fragrance laden with the wild herbs and flowers and that is also considered highly therapeutic for mind, body and soul. There are some sites which are believed to be haunted in the night and some hilltops, like Pari Tibba over the ridge between Woodstock School and Jharipaani, where it is said that fairies visit on full moon nights to bathe at the mysteriously hidden Jharipaani Falls at the base of the hilltop, a venture through such places could be thrilling and exciting. Before leaving the place, kindly carry back all the garbage to dump in the trash bins in the town. Most importantly, please drive back easy and responsibly. Furthermore, Mussoorie is surrounded by a mysterious region known as Jaunpur-Jaunsaar which is very rich in its unique culture, folklore and cuisine. A night stay inside scented deodar wooden house or to camp in the village-side would be an experience of its own kind. Know the culture, savor the homemade grain wine and food, listen to ghost stories around cozy bonfires and relinquish to soul strumming folk music and dance. Be assured to get yourself cozily tucked in woolens…and let the cold nights of Mussoorie cast a spell on you.
