Mall Road
Stretched over a distance of 3 km, the Mall road beats through the very heart of the town on the south face of the hillside providing a commanding panorama of the vast Doon Valley which appears as a dream during the day and a real heaven in night. Before Captain Frederick Young discovered Mussoorie, the ridge with seven flat lands dissected by number of stream was a narrow bridle path between the Surkanda Devi and Bhadraaj Temple pilgrimage. This is where the people of Bhatta and Kyaarkuli villages had their highland cattle sheds where they would graze their cattle during summer month. Today, Mussoorie Mall Road remains thronged with visitors, primarily from Delhi and Punjab, owing to its close proximity. Most of the prime markets, hotels, restaurant, bars, showrooms, handicrafts and souvenir shops, chemists, ATMs, salons lie on the Mall road. During the British time and even afterwards, people would commute through on hand-pulled rickshaw. But now, electric vehicles have taken over. Instead of driving in through private vehicles, it is always better to walk to enjoy the royal galore of the Mall Road. The SDM Office, the Kutchery and the Police Station lies within the vicinity of the wide Mall Road.
